Tennis Channel Extends Ted Robinson Through 2013

Got word from Tennis Channel that main French Open announcer and part-time US Open caller Ted Robinson will remain with the network through 2013. That’s the same deal that John McEnroe has with the network for calling the French Open. It’s good to see Ted locked for the remainder of Tennis Channel’s deal with the French Open. He will also do work on the US Open for the network.

TED ROBINSON SIGNS TENNIS CHANNEL EXTENSION
Emmy Award-Winning Sportscaster to Appear in Network Booth through 2013 Coverage
LOS ANGELES, June 1, 2010 Tennis Channel, the only 24-hour, television-based multimedia destination dedicated to both the professional sport and tennis lifestyle, has re-signed French Open and US Open announcer Ted Robinson, extending his role with the network through 2013. The Emmy Award-winning sportscaster is currently on the air in Paris in the play-by-play role he has held since the channel’s first year of French Open coverage in 2007.
“We’ve had a great time in Paris during the past three years, and I’m really excited to be with this team here and in New York over the next four years,” said Robinson. “John (Tennis Channel analyst John McEnroe) and I always have fun when we’re on the air.  It’s nice to know we’ll be doing this with Tennis Channel at these events for awhile.”
Tennis Hall of Famer and long-time Robinson on-air partner John McEnroe also recently extended his French Open relationship with the network through 2013. The duo’s on-air history pre-dates Tennis Channel, as the faces of NBC’s Wimbledon and French Open coverage for years, in addition to appearing on USA Network’s US Open telecasts when that network covered the event.
“It’s been a privilege to have Ted on our Grand Slam team and to offer his incomparable voice to our viewers,” said Larry Meyers, senior vice president, production, and executive producer, Tennis Channel. “Ted’s presence on our air ensures Tennis Channel viewers will continue to get the best tennis commentary on television. We couldn’t be happier to extend our relationship.”
A veteran sportscaster with an extensive resume, Robinson has also called play by play for various Major League Baseball teams, the MLB playoffs, NCAA basketball and football, the NFL and the NBA’s Golden State Warriors. He is a fixture of NBC’s Olympic coverage, and for that event has appeared in Nagano, Japan, in 1998; Sydney in 2000; Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2000; Athens in 2004; Turin, Italy, in 2006; Beijing in 2008; and Vancouver this year.
This year Tennis Channel will devote more than 230 hours of programming to the French Open (all in high definition) including live matches, encore replays and highlights via French Open Tonight. The network will also offer multiple live match streams on its Web site,

Good to have Ted and John teamed up on the French for Tennis Channel.
