NBC’s Announcing Assignments For NFL Wild Card Saturday

Al Michaels broke the news at the end of tonight’s Sunday Night Football finale. Good news for fans who especially hated NBC’s choice of having Joe Gibbs and Joe Theismann call the early Wild Card game with Tom Hammond last year. We won’t have a repeat of that this year. Here’s the schedule complete with the announcers.

Saturday, January 8, 2011
4:30 p.m.
New Orleans Saints at Seattle Seahawks – Tom Hammond/Mike Mayock/Alex Flanagan (NBC’s Notre Dame announcing team)

8:00 p.m.
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts – Al Michaels/Cris Collinsworth/Andrea Kremer

Don’t have all of NBC’s plans as of yet, but we do know Football Night in America will start airing at 4 p.m. We can assume Bob Costas will be in Indy. Dan Patrick will be in New York at NBC’s World Headquarters with Tony Dungy, Rodney Harrison, Sports Illustrated’s Peter King and Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio. Any deviation from this would be an upset.

We’ll end it there. A busy Sunday on the blog and I didn’t even do links!
