Sports Media Weekly Podcast No. 53 With Guest “Scooter” Vertino of NBA Digital

After a week off for Keith Thibault’s vacation, we’re back with another edition of the Sports Media Weekly Podcast. Today, our guest is Albert “Scooter” Vertino of Turner Sports’ NBA Digital division. Long-time NBA watchers know that name is familiar having heard Marv Albert give out his producer’s credit at the end of various TNT broadcasts. Scooter is now the Vice President of Content for NBA Digital overseeing NBA TV, NBA.com, NBA League Pass, WNBA.com and NBADLeague.com.

During our segment with Scooter, we discuss his responsibilities at NBA Digital. How his days are different now spending time in Atlanta as compared to when he was producing the NBA on TNT. In addition, we get one of Scooter’s favorite Marv Albert stories. We also look forward to how NBA Digital is handling the NBA Playoffs as well as what’s coming for the organization including the WNBA season and we find out how NBA Digital would handle an NBA lockout.

In the opening News of the Week segment, Keith and I talk about the NHL’s new 10 year agreement with the NBC Sports Group. We also touch on the NHL Playoff ratings, NFL schedule unveil, the Pac 12 rights bidding and the NBA ratings.
