MLB Says Ratings For LCS Are At Highest Levels Since 2006

We have this release from MLB says the ratings for the League Championship Series involving major markets in New York, Philadelphia, Dallas and San Francisco are up to their highest levels since mid-decade. And while the NFL is beating MLB, there is interest in the games as I can gauge from Twitter and Facebook.

DRAMATIC SERIES, STELLAR PITCHING PROPEL
LCS TV VIEWERSHIP TO BEST LEVELS SINCE 2006
With Cliff Lee and Andy Pettitte providing just the latest in a series of compelling pitching duels, LCS coverage on TBS and FOX is averaging 7.6 million viewers through five games, the best average at this stage in the four years since FOX and TBS began sharing the League Championship Series coverage.
This year’s five-game average viewership is up +9% over comparable coverage for the 2009 LCS, which featured the Yankees vs. Angels on FOX and the Phillies vs. Dodgers on TBS and averaged 7.0 million viewers over the first five games.
In New York, last night’s ALCS Game 3 registered a 2010 Postseason-best 14.5 local rating, while in Dallas it registered a strong 22.1 local rating.
The teams split the first two games of both LCS series for the first time since 2005 and only the seventh time since the LCS expanded to seven games in 1985 (1986, 1991, 1996, 1997, 2003 and 2005).  The 2010 MLB Postseason has been marked by spectacular starting pitching, with the LCS already delivering compelling pitching duels including Tim Lincecum vs. Roy Halladay, Cliff Lee vs. Andy Pettitte, and today’s NLCS Game 3 matchup between Cole Hamels and Matt Cain.

That’s it.
