The Padres, who are looking for their first trip to the Postseason in four years, trail the San Francisco Giants by two games in the NL West and the Atlanta Braves by 1 ½ games in the NL Wild Card race. Padres right-hander Jon Garland, going for his 15th win of the season, is scheduled to pitch opposite Cubs left-hander Tom Gorzelanny.The action continues with a doubleheader on Friday, October 1, starting when the NL East champion Philadelphia Phillies visit the NL Wild Card-leading Atlanta Braves at 7:30 p.m. ET. Viewers in select markets will see the New York Yankees, who have clinched a playoff spot, against their division rival Boston Red Sox at 7:00 p.m. ET, live from Fenway Park. In the battle for a division title and home-field advantage, the Yankees trail the Tampa Bay Rays by a half-game in the AL East. At 10:00 p.m. ET, the Padres take on the Giants in a showdown for the NL West division title, live from AT&T Park. Left-hander Barry Zito is scheduled to take the mound for the Giants against the Padres’ Clayton Richard. The Giants are looking to return to the Postseason for the first time since 2003. Saturday Night Baseball features the Rays, who also have clinched a playoff spot, traveling to Kauffman Stadium to face the Kansas City Royals at 7:00 p.m. ET.MLB Tonight, MLB Network’s Emmy Award-winning signature nightly studio show, airs seven days a week, featuring updates, highlights, bonus coverage and look-ins at live games in progress.
