Ron Darling & John Smoltz Pull Double Game 5 Duty for TBS

Yesterday at the end of Game 4 of the Philadelphia-St. Louis series, Dick Stockton mentioned on TBS that Bob Brenly would not be working Game 5 as he would be attending his son’s wedding this weekend. So that resulted in several tweeps and readers asking me who would work tomorrow’s Game 5 in Philadelphia.

I sent an e-mail to Turner Sports and was informed that after they finish calling tonight’s Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees, analysts Ron Darling and John Smoltz will head down Route 95 to Philadelphia to join Dick Stockton tomorrow for the call.

Interestingly that Turner would hire Brenly full well knowing that there was a potential conflict, but also, they may not have thought that Cards-Phillies would go the maximum.

So it’ll be Brian Anderson, Ron Darling and John Smoltz calling tonight’s Tigers-Yankees Game 5 at 8 ET on TBS. And on Friday, Dick Stockton, Ron Darling and John Smoltz will call tomorrow’s Cardinals-Phillies Game 5 at 8:30 p.m. ET.

Now you’re up to date.
