Golf Channel Goes to Double Box During Commercial Breaks on European Tour Action

Starting this week, Golf Channel will go to a double box to continue to show live action during the PGA European Tour. As the tour goes into its last four tournaments of the year, fans will see continue to see live action on the left side of the screen while ads run on the right.

This will be seen for the final two hours of coverage for each round.

Golf ChannelGolf Channel Debuts Playing Through Advertising Format for European Tour’s Final Series

ORLANDO, Fla., (Oct. 22, 2013) – This week, Golf Channel introduces Playing Through, a new split-screen commercial break, which provides more continuous coverage of tournament action, while showcasing advertisers in a unique and compelling format.

Playing Through will be implemented during the European Tour’s Final Series starting with this week’s BMW Masters. Rather than go to a traditional commercial break, Golf Channel’s coverage will go to a split screen with simultaneous live golf action and advertising. The commercial’s audio will be featured during the Playing Through breaks.  See above jpg for example.

This new commercial break will be featured during the final two hours of Golf Channel’s tournament coverage, which will include eight Playing Through breaks and four traditional commercial breaks. In addition to the this week’s BMW Masters, Playing Through will be instituted at all four of the European Tour’s Final Series events including WGC-HSBC Champions, the Turkish Airlines Open and the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.

Coverage from 6 – 10 a.m. ET Daily, Playing Through from 8 – 10 a.m. ET

Coverage from 11 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. ET Daily (11 p.m. – 3 a.m.  for final round due to time), Playing Through from 2 – 4 a.m. ET (1 – 3 a.m. for final round due to time change)

Thurs, Nov 7 – Sun, Nov 10
Coverage from 4 – 9 a.m. ET on Thurs – Sat, Playing Through from 7 – 9 a.m. ET
Coverage from 3:30 – 8:30 a.m. ET on Sun, Playing Through from 6:30 – 8:30 a.m. ET
