Fox Showcases Mets-Phillies

Fox is doing fine in Spring time. I have this old Fox Sports open in my head, back to the early days of the operation when it had just the NFL and NHL. This open which had the words, “Fox is doing fiiiiiinnnne… in Cup time….” has been stuck in my head for a couple of months. Check out this clip featuring James Brown and Dave Maloney in the studio for Fox Sports.

Anyway, this is not about the NHL, this is about MLB and what Fox is covering this weekend. Note that Tim McCarver is not working with Joe Buck this week. Hmmm. Take a look.

NL EAST RIVALS DO BATTLE IN PHILLY The FOX SATURDAY BASEBALL GAME OF THE WEEK kicks off FOX Sports’ MLB-to-NASCAR doubleheader with three enticing matchups Saturday, May 2 (3:30 PM ET). This week, FOX Sports visits Citizens Bank Park for the first time since last year’s World Series when NL East rivals meet as Carlos Beltran and the Mets take on Shane Victorino and the defending champion Phillies. In Atlanta, Chipper Jones and the Braves entertain Lance Berkman and the Astros. Also, AL Central rivals meet when Miguel Cabrera and the Tigers welcome Grady Sizemore and the Indians to Detroit. Pregame originates live from Philadelphia with host Chris Rose. Once game action begins, Rose joins the game crew including Joe Buck, Eric Karros and Ken Rosenthal as a field reporter. For instant updates during the week and games from the entire MLB on FOX crew, follow us on Twitter at http://twitter.com/MLBONFOX.

ROSENTHAL: DON’T EXPECT JOBA TO BAIL OUT YANKS ‘PEN YET MLB on FOX’s Ken Rosenthal believes the Yankees have little choice but to stay the course when it comes to Joba Chamberlain and their bullpen. “The Yankees aren’t panicking just yet, not even after their weekend debacle in Boston. [GM Brian] Cashman is always looking to upgrade, but says that he is not being uber-aggressive about looking for relief help, and that none of the available relievers interest him. The calls for Chamberlain to return to his original role only will grow louder if the team’s relievers continue to struggle. One way or another, something must give.”

I’ll have another Fox press release post in the morning. I have to sleep.
