ESPN’s John Saunders Recovering From Fall

Long-time ESPN host John Saunders is recovering from injuries he sustained last Saturday from an accidental fall. ESPN says that Saunders is expected to make a full recovery, however, he will not be able to fulfill his weekend duties which comprise of hosting ABC’s college football on Saturdays and The Sports Reporters on ESPN on Sunday mornings. John also hosts the Sunday 7 p.m. edition of SportsCenter during NFL season.

Scott Van Pelt will fill in for John on ABC while Jeremy Schaap will host The Sports Reporters on ESPN.

John has been with ESPN since 1986, first as a SportsCenter anchor, then becoming a member of the NFL Primetime crew with Chris Berman and Tom Jackson. He was the original host of Baseball Tonight and a studio host on the NHL on ESPN throughout the 1990’s.

He became ABC college football host in the 1990’s and has remained in that position through today. We wish John well and hope he returns soon.
