Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia & NESN Announce Plans For Bruins-Flyers

Since I have info from both Comcast SportsNet Philly and NESN in regards to the same series, why not combine them into one press release post. The series starts today on NBC as it will air Game 1 and Game 5 next Sunday, if necessary. Versus airs Games 2 & 3 in their entirety, then joins four in progress and then 6 and 7, if necessary. With different exclusivity rules in place for the 2nd round of the NHL Playoffs, CSN Philly and NESN will be able to air Game 4, then 6 & 7.

Both networks have announced their plans and let’s begin with Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia.

Record Ratings on Comcast SportsNet
On Tuesday, the Flyers defeated the Sabres 5-2 to advance to the next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The game was the most watched Flyers game in Comcast SportsNet’s history, delivering a 12.6 rating (383,000 households), with a peak delivery of 14.7 (446,000 households) at 9:45 p.m. Game 7’s ratings bested the previous high set on May 14, 2010 when the Flyers came back from a 3-0 deficit in the game, and in the series, to beat the Boston Bruins and advance to the Stanley Cup Conference Finals.

During the first round of the playoffs, Comcast SportsNet is averaging a 7.8 rating (237,000 HHs), topping last year’s first round by 47%. In 2010, the Flyers defeat of the New Jersey Devils scored a 5.3 rating for the series.

Fans also tuned in before and after Tuesday’s game, with Game 7’s “Flyers Pregame Live” delivering a 2.2 rating (67,000 HHs) and “Flyers Postgame Live” scoring a 2.9 rating (88,000 HHs).

And NESN says it will provide live pre and postgame coverage for all games even if it’s not airing the contest.

NESN’s extensive coverage of the Boston Bruins Stanley Cup Playoff action will continue even on days when NESN doesn’t have game broadcast rights. NESN will produce live pre-game shows before every game and provide regular post-game coverage in and around NESN’s regularly scheduled programming throughout the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

Live Pre-Game Shows Begin Saturday at 2:30 PM
Bruins game analyst Andy Brickley and reporter Naoko Funayama will be in Philadelphia to deliver regular reports, interviews and analysis beginning with a live pre-game show on Saturday, April 30 at 2:30 PM. Bruins Face-Off LIVE will be hosted by Kathryn Tappen from NESN’s studios in Watertown, MA with Barry Pederson and Gord Kluzak serving as studio analysts.

Post-Game Coverage from NESN’s Bruins Experts
After each game, NESN’s team of hockey experts will provide post-game reaction and interviews in and around NESN’s regularly scheduled Red Sox programming with additional nightly reports in NESN Daily. Bruins Overtime LIVE segments will be worked into NESN’s Red Sox pre and/or post-game programs depending on when each game ends.

And there you have it.
