CBS Sports Previews SEC Saturday Doubleheader

CBS Sports has two SEC games on Saturday including the intriguing Florida at Alabama matchup in primetime. The afternoon game will pit Tennessee at LSU. Unfortunately, one of the worst announcers in Craig Bolerjack will call Vols-Tigers in Baton Rouge, but one good thing is the fact that the lovely Sam Ryan will be the sideline reporter.

CBS Sports’ national coverage of SEC College Football continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 2 featuring a primetime match-up between unbeatens as *No. 7-ranked Florida takes on *No. 1-ranked Alabama (8:00 PM, ET). The doubleheader begins with Tennessee battling *No. 10-ranked LSU (3:30 PM, ET).

Play-by-play announcer Craig Bolerjack, along with analyst Steve Beuerlein handle the call from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. for Tennessee-LSU. Sam Ryan serves as reporter. Steve Scheer produces and Jim Cornell directs.

The CBS Television Network’s lead college football announce team of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson call the action live from Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Tracy Wolfson serves as lead reporter. Craig Silver, the Network’s coordinating producer of college football, produces and Steve Milton directs.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY, the Network’s pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show, starts the day on CBS Sports (3:00 PM, ET) with host Tim Brando, along with analysts Spencer Tillman and Tony Barnhart. COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY will keep viewers updated on all the games throughout the afternoon with scores and highlights. Vin DeVito produces and Linda Malino directs. Harold Bryant is Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.

After CBS Sports’ live SEC game coverage each Saturday throughout the season, CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK takes over with SEC TONIGHT (7:00-8:00 PM, ET), providing a recap of all the news, scores and highlights from around the SEC. Adam Zucker hosts along with analysts Phillip Fulmer and Brian Jones. Stephan Van Engen produces.

(On Florida-Alabama Rivalry): Most rivalries are built out of proximity or history or long standing relationships. This rivalry has been born out of greatness. The two teams, their level of play and their excellence on the field has forced each other into a rivalry. They are not natural rivals. It’s become the premier rivalry in college football because of their excellence of play over the last five years.

(John Brantley Key for Florida Success): Trey Burton, the young freshman phenom, who is basically taking on the role that Tim Tebow played in the past, is an important part of the game. But he is the second phase. If John Brantley doesn’t play great it doesn’t matter how good Trey Burton is. Florida can’t win.

(On Greg McElroy ): I continue to marvel at how Greg McElroy finds a way to get it done, whether he starts out quickly and leads the team or has a great fourth quarter to lead the team. Last year in the SEC Championship game it was his scrambling in the pocket that led the team. The guy just finds a way to lead the team and it seems likes he is not one-dimensional. He’s stereotyped as being just a thinking man’s quarterback but he seems to find a lot of different ways to help the team. He is a very dangerous college quarterback.

(End of the Road?): This is not the end of the season for either team. This is a cross-divisional game and the loser doesn’t necessarily die. They can re-surface and play each other again because each team can absorb a loss and still get to Atlanta.
