Your Two Finalists For Hockey Night In Canada Theme

These are the two finalists for the new Hockey Night in Canada Theme as voted by Canadians. I have been following the contest, but I haven’t said anything about it until now. Having spent an hour listening to the five semifinalists, I believe the voting got the finalists right.

First, here’s Canadian Gold written by school teacher Colin Oberst. I like this a lot. The produced version is here.

And this is “Sticks to the Ice” written by 13 year old Robert Fraser Burke and when I first listened to it, I thought this was the winner, but since my initial reaction, I’m having some second thoughts. Still a strong candidate though. The produced version can be seen here.

Voting is taking place online at the CBC’s Anthem Challenge website.

However, I’ll always think of this as the Hockey Night in Canada theme even though it will on TSN in perpetuity.

Vote if you wish. I’ll be going to sleep now.
