Finally Back To Linking

The last couple of days have been tough to provide links as I was out of the office. Glad to be back linking again, although you never know if I’ll be called away again. I’ll try to do what I can.

Mike McCarthy of USA Today attended the NFL on CBS media day on Tuesday which introduced the network’s announcing teams for this season. Mike got some interesting quotage from NFL Today analyst Boomer Esiason on Denver Broncos third string QB Tim Tebow.

Mike reported earlier this week that ESPN’s Brian Kenny is leaving the network to possibly take a position with MLB Network.

Erik Brady of USA Today writes that the late Al McGuire’s granddaughter, once a basketball player at Virginia, is now an accomplished model.

John Ourand at Sports Business Journal chronicles what NBC Sports Group is doing to position Versus as a major player in sports television.

Jon Lafayette of Broadcasting & Cable says CBS Sports officials were worried about a potential NFL lockout, but continued to sell ads and carried on with its business of getting ready for this season.

The Lingerie Football League Returns To MTV2; And It’s Live!

Last season, MTV2 aired weekly 30 minute highlights of Lingerie Football League games. Well, after showing the semifinals live in January, MTV has decided to go live with the entire season! This follows MTV’s decision to have live mixed martial arts on MTV2 throughout the spring. Now Lingerie Football will live on Friday nights on MTV2 starting in August. It will be a 20 game regular season schedule that go until January. Then MTV2 will also have the rights to the Conference Championships as well as the Lingerie Bowl that will take place during halftime of the Super Bowl. Well, we are now spared from having to pay for the Lingerie Bowl. At least I hope you haven’t been paying for the Lingerie Bowl.

The inaugural season on MTV2 drew strong ratings, significant national media coverage and created a frenzy across social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter – where LFL Football was a trending topic on Twitter on multiple Friday nights during last season.

MTV2 To Add Bellator Fighting Championships To Its Schedule

MTV2 continues to add to its sports portfolio. It just completed airing the Lingerie Football League and will apparently do so again next season. Now we get word that the music channel will pick up some Mixed Martial Arts starting in March. The Bellator Fighting Championships will air Saturday nights over a 12 week period on MTV2. It’ll be full cards and involve all weight classes. We have the details from MTV2.

Bellator Fighting Championships to Air New Season Live Saturday Nights on MTV2

2011 Events Kick Off On March 5 At Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino

CHICAGO, Ill. and NEW YORK, NY (February 2, 2011) – Bellator Fighting Championships’ highly anticipated fourth season will premiere Saturday, March 5, at 9:00pm ET/PT and air weekly on MTV2 featuring live fights from venues around the country with many of the top mixed martial arts fighters in the world. This season will feature a welterweight, lightweight, light heavyweight and featherweight tournament with bouts airing live every Saturday night for 12 weeks on MTV2. The first Bellator event will originate from the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino in Lemoore, CA on Saturday, March 5.  Tickets will be available at www.tachipalace.com and the Tachi Palace Hotel & Casino box office as the date approaches.

MTV2 Airs Lingerie Football League Conference Championships Live

Yes, MTV2 which had been airing half-hour weekly highlight shows of games actually gets into the live game arena by showing the Lingerie Football League Conference Championships on Saturday. They begin at 6 p.m. Eastern time and will be preceded on Friday with a recap of the regular season. It all leads to the Lingerie Bowl on February 6, which is the same day as Super Bowl XLV.

Worrying about how to handle those football withdrawal symptoms this weekend?  MTV2 has the remedy – live coverage of the Lingerie Football League’s Eastern and Western Conference Finals on Saturday, January 29, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.  “Super Saturday Night” on MTV2 night is sure to be the perfect dose fans need with 90 minutes of back-to-back live gridiron action featuring the hottest female athletes playing full-contact football.
