Saturday Morning Linkfest

I’ll do some links this morning.

Starting with the Nielsen ratings Wire blog, we find that almost as many women watch the Kentucky Derby as men.

Michael Winerip of the New York Times laments of the loss of Len Berman from WNBC and no-nonsense sportcasts.

Ken Schott of the Schenectady Gazette has a good suggestion. Move the Pittsburgh-Washington game to primetime so NBC won’t have any potential problems switching away from the game for Kentucky Derby coverage.

Alan Pergament of the Buffalo News writes that NHL ratings are lower in Western New York.

Paul Vigna of the Harrisburg (PA) Patriot-News writes that ESPN is being criticized for dropping some of its pre-race coverage of the Kentucky Derby.

Jim Williams of the Washington Examiner will be watching Game 7 of the Celtics-Bulls tonight.

The Minnesota Golden Gophers will continue to have their college hockey games aired on Fox Sports North.

Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News talks about the new NBA TV contract which allows for more national exclusivity of the Playoffs at the expense of the local broadcasts.

Eric Degerman of the Mid-Columbia (WA) Tri-Cities Herald says FSN Northwest will air a documentary today about the minor league Seattle Rainiers.

Mike Reynolds of Multichannel News says the Pacquaio-Hatton fight will cap off a great sports day.

Dave Shedloski writing for PGATour.com says Golf Channel’s production of this year’s tour events have a different look thanks to some new blood.

The Sports Media Watch says NHL Playoff ratings on NBC last week were even with last year. SMW says NASCAR’s ratings went up last week, but were still way down from last year.

The Canadian Press says interest in the NHL in the US is growing.

Not many links today, but this is like the calm before the storm. See you later.
