FSN New England Auction to Benefit the Alan Greenberg Scholarship Fund

Received a notice from FSN New England regarding an auction to benefit the Alan Greenberg Scholarship Fund. Greenberg was a Patriots beat writer for the Hartford Courant and passed away back in March. A scholarship fund was set up in Greenberg’s name to benefit a student from Lincoln Sudbury Regional School who wants to pursue a career in journalism.

The New England Patriots have donated a training camp experience and it’s being auctioned off. Here’s the press release:

“Alan was a great writer and a great friend,” said Tanguay. “Through the Alan Greenberg Journalism Scholarship Fund we can ensure that a new generation follows in his footsteps.”

The Alan Greenberg Journalism Scholarship Fund will award an annual scholarship to a Lincoln Sudbury Regional High School senior who is pursuing a degree in print or broadcast journalism.

The high bidder must be 18 or older and must be available for the Patriots Training Camp session on August 15. No alternate date and/or compensation are available. I do recommend you bid on this. Alan Greenberg was a very good writer and always engaged in a give-and-take with Bill Belichick at his weekly press conferences, something the coach enjoyed. Plus, Greenberg was a likable person from the accounts I have read from the various media members who knew him.
