Pac-12 Networks Set Announcing Lineup for Swimming & Diving Meets; Includes Amy Van Dyken

The Pac-12 Networks announce an eleven swimming & diving meet telecast schedule for 2014 and also unveils former Fox Sports Radio talker Amy Van Dyken as an analyst.

Van Dyken’s first meet will be on Saturday when the UCLA women take on Utah at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. She’ll be joined by Rich Burk on the call.

In addition to Burk and Van Dyken, Pac-12 Networks will utilize Jason Knapp on play-by-play, Nathan Adrian and Natalie Coughlin on swimming analysis and NBC Sports Olympic analyst Cynthia Potter on diving.

Nathan Adrian and Amy Van Dyken join Natalie Coughlin and Cynthia Potter to offer analysis on 11 event telecasts

SAN FRANCISCO (January 10, 2014) – Former Olympians Nathan Adrian, Natalie Coughlin, Cynthia Potter and Amy Van Dyken, bring their expertise and wealth of knowledge to Pac-12 Networks’ sophomore season of swimming & diving coverage that features 11 total events, five up from last year. The action continues this weekend with a live dual meet featuring 16th-ranked UCLA women hosting No. 22 Utah Saturday at 11:00 a.m. PT. Rich Burk has the call, alongside Van Dyken from Spieker Aquatic Center.

Van Dyken, a former Arizona Wildcat and six-time Olympic gold medalist, enters her first season as a swimming analyst for Pac-12 Networks. Her broadcasting career includes sideline reporting stints for the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos, as well as co-host of the nationally-syndicated radio program ‘FOX Sports Tonight’ with Rob Dibble.

Fellow newcomer Adrian adds an additional four Olympic medals to the Networks’ broadcaster tally of 23, as well as five individual NCAA titles as a standout on the Cal men’s swim team. The Bremerton, WA native is also the current American record holder in the 50 and 100-yard (short course) freestyle.

Coughlin and Potter both return for their second season providing analysis on Pac-12 Network swimming & diving telecasts. Coughlin, a 12-time Olympic medalist and former Cal Bear, won 11 individual NCAA championships and was named the NCAA Swimmer of the Year from 2001 to 2003. She also holds the distinction of being the first female swimmer to ever win six medals in one Olympics during the 2008 summer games in Beijing.

Potter is an Olympic Bronze medalist, four-time Olympic diving team member and International Swimming Hall-of-Famer. She has served as a color commentator on diving telecasts since 1988, including seven Olympic Games for NBC Sports.

Burk and Jason Knapp will rotate play-by-play duties alongside Adrian, Coughlin, Potter and Van Dyken.

The Pac-12 boasts 11 total swim teams among the preseason top 25, including both men’s and women’s powerhouse programs at Stanford and California. The No. 1-ranked Cal women, led by freshman phenom and four-time Olympic Gold Medalist Missy Franklin, will make four regular season appearances on the Networks, while the No. 3-ranked Stanford women will be featured three times. On the men’s side, third-ranked Cal also appear three times during the regular season, while the Cardinal men’s program appear once, hosting their Bay Area rival February 22.

The telecast schedule also includes complete coverage from the Pac-12 Swimming & Diving Championships for both men and women from Federal Way, WA. Airdates and times for the Pac-12 Championships will be announced at a later date.
