ESPN has released the schedule and announcing announcements for Week 2 of this college football season. There’s no primetime game on ABC as it’s carrying a NASCAR Sprint Cup race on Saturday night. The featured game is still on ABC as USC takes on Stanford at 3:30 p.m. ET. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Heather Cox will be in Northern California to call the game live.
Here are some highlights of ESPN’s schedule this week directly from the folks in Bristol:
- ESPN will televise a tripleheader of matchups with a ranked team in each game: No. 24 Missouri at Toledo at noon, No. 15 Ole Miss against Vanderbilt at 4:30 p.m. and No. 8 Ohio State against Virginia Tech at 8 p.m. ESPN3 will cover the Virginia Tech at Ohio State matchup from the SkyCam angle and use only the natural sounds in the stadium as part of a special ESPN3 Surround presentation.
- An ESPN2 prime time doubleheader will feature No. 5 Auburn against San Jose State at 7 p.m. and Colorado at Boise State at 10:15 p.m.
- SEC Network’s schedule will include three of the top 12 ranked teams: No. 2 Alabama against Florida Atlantic at noon, No. 9 Texas A&M against Lamar at 7:30 p.m. and No. 12 LSU against Sam Houston State at 7:30 p.m.
- ABC will provide a split national telecast of No. 4 Oklahoma at Tulsa and Akron at Penn State at noon with ESPN2 offering reverse mirror coverage of the games.
- ESPN3 will carry 25 games on Saturday, including No. 1 Florida State against The Citadel (7:30 p.m.), No. 23 Clemson against South Carolina State (12:30 p.m.) and No. 25 Louisville against Murray State (7 p.m.).
In addition to the Saturday schedule, ESPN will televise a Friday night doubleheader kicking off with an ACC showdown pitting Pittsburgh at Boston College at 7 p.m. followed by Washington State at Nevada at 10:30 p.m.
If you want to arrange your Saturday schedule, College GameDay will be in Oregon, the first trip out West this year.
College GameDay Visits Oregon’s Campus for Ninth Time
ESPN’s College GameDay – college football’s longest running and most celebrated pregame show – will originate from Oregon’s campus in Eugene on Saturday, Sept. 6. The weekly three-hour Emmy Award-winning show (Saturday 9 a.m.-noon) will originate from Memorial Quad.
And here’s the entire ESPN Family of Networks schedule with announcing assignments for this weekend.
