TBS Talks About Its American League Championship Series Coverage

Let’s now look at the MLB TV partners’ coverage of the League Championship Series. Turner Sports will have coverage of the American League while Fox Sports has the National League. In this release, TBS outlines its coverage of the ALCS as it’ll provide a few features that we did not see in the League Division Series.

TBS’ Exclusive Coverage of MLB’s American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and Texas Rangers Takes the Field in Primetime on Friday, October 15
TBS to Debut Foul Pole Cam in Texas, Cable Cam Returns; Exclusive Content available on Hot Corner, Facebook & Twitter
TBS announced today the telecast schedule for its exclusive coverage of Major League Baseball’s American League Championship Series (ALCS). The excitement gets underway on Friday, Oct. 15, with the AL West Champion Texas Rangers taking on the defending World Series Champion New York Yankees, AL Wild Card winners, at 8 p.m. ET in Game #1. Ernie Johnson (play-by-play), Ron Darling (analyst), John Smoltz (analyst) and Craig Sager (reporter) will call the action throughout the ALCS.
The network’s coverage begins with its pre-game show, TBS MLB On Deck at 7:30 p.m. (ET) featuring Matt Winer (host), Dennis Eckersley (analyst), Cal Ripken (analyst) and David Wells (analyst). TBS will conclude the day’s action with the post-game show Inside MLB also featuring Winer, Eckersley, Ripken and Wells. Beginning with Game #3 of the ALCS, the pre- and post-game show will hit the road and the crew will move on-site to Yankee Stadium in New York and Arlington in Texas. See schedule below for full coverage details.
TBS’ production plans include the debut of Foul Pole Cam, a new camera attached to the rightfield foul pole in The Ballpark at Arlington during Rangers home games that will attempt to provide a definitive overhead look at plays down the line of play, and a point-to-point Cable Cam that will run alongside the field of play from the rightfield foul pole past home plate. The network will also continue to use the PITCHf/x System, which tracks every pitch thrown from the time it leaves the pitchers hand until the time it crosses home plate, offering three distinct angles, Pitch Trax, which illustrates pitch location, and an animated Hit Chart.
During the ALCS, TBS Hot Corner on MLB.com (www.mlb.com/tbshotcorner) will give fans access to on-demand video highlights in addition to exclusive interviews with players and coaches. TBS Hot Corner will also feature exclusive segments from the studio with analysts Eckersley, Ripken and Wells breaking down all of the action and previewing upcoming ALCS match-ups.
Turner Sports will also get fans involved through various social media platforms, including:
  • Live streaming chat on MLB.com: Fans will have the opportunity to interact with TBS MLB analyst Ron Darling on Monday, October 18, through a live chat that will be hosted at http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/hotcorner/page.jsp
