Joint press release from the National Broadcasting Company and the National Hockey League on the ratings for the just completed Conference Semifinal Round. According to both companies, combined viewership on the NBC Sports Group (CNBC, NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network) was up 28% from a year ago as the games averaged 1.32 million people.
On NBC Sports Network, the average viewership was 1.29 million which is up 43% from 2011 when the network was known as Versus (I’ll be happy when I don’t have to write “formerly known as Versus” or “when the network was known as Versus” anymore).
NBC Sports Network has even more good news as Game 7 of the Washington Capitals-New York Rangers series averaged 1.68 million viewers.
And for Game 1 of last night’s Western Conference Final between the LA Kings and Phoenix Coyotes, the game was the most watched game on cable in the home markets. We expect final ratings on that game tomorrow.
The announcement from NBC and the NHL.
