This is the 5th anniversary of Fang’s Bites. On May 2, 2007, I began this site in earnest. There are posts that I wrote in 2005 and before, but I really didn’t make the site a full-time effort. For some reason on May 2, 2007, I decided to make this a full-time endeavor and you’ve responded.
Since then, the networks have lent this site legitimacy by sending their press releases and you have as well by coming here often. Thank you so much for being part of the over 2.5 million people who have visited this site over the years.
I will continue to be here to give you the latest information on the sports media. There will be times when I won’t be able to get to everything, but I will give it my all and I appreciate your comments whether they be positive or negative.
When I began, people were either on Friendster or MySpace and social networking was just in its infancy. Now, it’s either Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram or whatever is the latest and greatest in gathering online.
HDTV is now the standard for television and 3-D is attempting to gain a legitimate foothold in sports. Standard definition is now just a distant memory.
Streaming video has gone from waiting for a :20 second video to finish buffering to now almost broadcast quality pictures and events like the NCAA Tournament and the Olympics are now totally lending themselves to streaming.
Seeing video on mobile phones and tablets once a fantasy is now standard. And watching sports has become a truly national and even global communal experience thanks to Twitter and Facebook.
Who knows what the next five years will bring? I’ll do my best to keep you informed on the sports media and I hope you’ll be here with me. It’s been a great ride thus far. Let’s keep going.
