ESPN Takes Six Sports Emmy Awards Back to Bristol, CT
Last night at the 33rd Annual Sports Emmy Awards, ESPN took six statues, three for Outside the Lines features and another for E:60. So the Alleged Worldwide Leader was honored more for its features and journalism over its production side. Although ESPN 3D which about 43 people across the country can watch, received a Sports Emmy Award for Winter X Games 15 in a tie for the Technical Team Remote category.
ESPN’s other Emmy Award was for Sport Science.

ESPN Wins Six Sports Emmy Awards
ESPN won six Sports Emmy Awards, presented for the 33rd year by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Monday night in New York. The honorees represent a wide range of disciplines, including enterprise reporting and technical excellence.
In addition, as previously announced, Jack Whitaker, who covered all of sports’ biggest events during his remarkable long career with CBS and ABC, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. Click here to view the video shown at the ceremony: Jack Whitaker Lifetime Achievement.
ESPN won four Sports Emmys for its excellence in journalism. The network’s acclaimed investigative series Outside the Lines won three Sports Emmys across three categories – Long Feature: The Man Behind the Red Bandana; Short Feature: Time Out of Mind; Editing: Joplin, City of Hope. Additionally, the prime-time news magazine show, E:60, was cited in the Short Feature category for “Together.” This is the 11th consecutive year ESPN has received a Sports Emmy in at least one of the two categories for Features.
ESPN also thrived in technical categories. ESPN 3D won its first Sports Emmy for its presentation of the Winter X Games in the Technical Team Remote category. In addition, Sport Science received the Sports Emmy for Graphic Design for the second consecutive year.
ESPN has now won 148 Sports Emmy Awards in 25 years of eligibility.
