For one of its worst matchups since obtaining the Monday Night Football package in 2006, ESPN is doing its best foot forward for Arizona and San Francisco, certainly not the most attractive game. But ESPN will treat it as past Monday Night games while bringing up next week’s game, New York Jets at New England. Here’s ESPN’s preview.
Wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald and the Arizona Cardinals will host Frank Gore and the San Francisco 49ers in a NFC West rivalry game on ESPN’s Monday Night Football Nov. 29 at 8:30 p.m. on ESPN and ESPN HD. Mike Tirico and analysts Jon Gruden and Ron Jaworski will call the game, and Michele Tafoya and Suzy Kolber will provide updates on the teams throughout the day from University of Phoenix Stadium.Monday’s telecast will begin with a Frank Gifford vignette highlighting the 49ers-Rams game from Dec. 11, 1989, when Joe Montana threw a MNF single-game record 458 passing yards. Wide receiver John Taylor also led the night with 286 yards, establishing a then-MNF single-game record as the 49ers victory 30-27, en route to Super Bowl XXIV. The 49ers’ 39 victories rank them among the most successful NFL franchises in MNF’s 40-year history.ESPN’s “game around the game” studio coverage will begin at noon on SportsCenter, followed by NFL Live (3:30 p.m.) and NFL PrimeTime (4 p.m.). The 90-minute Monday Night Countdown pregame will begin at 7 p.m. with host Chris Berman and analysts Cris Carter, Mike Ditka, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson, Chris Mortensen, and NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Stuart Scott and analysts Matt Millen and Steve Young will contribute from the stadium.
And we’re done with the NFL previews for Week 12.
