TBS Makes The MLB All-Star Game Roster Announcements on July 4th

by , under MLB, TBS

This Sunday, TBS makes the announcements for the MLB All-Star Game rosters. Both American and National League rosters will be unveiled. This year, Matt Winer from NBA TV comes over to host the show. Ernie Johnson, Jr. had been the host for the past few years. Joining him will be Dennis Eckersley of NESN, David Wells and Cal Ripken, Jr.

It would be nice if TBS got the cable contract to the MLB All-Star Game Home Run Derby as I’m tired of Chris Berman yelling and trying to make local references to endear himself to the local community, but I digress. Here’s the TBS press release.

2010 MLB All-Star Game Rosters Announced Exclusively on TBS this Sunday, July 4th at Noon (ET)
Sunday MLB on TBS features Blue Jays @ Yankees at 1 p.m. (ET)
The 2010 American League and National League MLB All-Star teams will be revealed exclusively on TBS on Sunday, July 4th at Noon (ET) during the MLB All-Star Game Selection Show.  Host Matt Winer will be joined by analysts Dennis Eckersley, Cal Ripken and David Wells to make the announcements and provide analysis on the selections. The show will also feature interviews with All-Star Game managers Joe Girardi of the New York Yankees and Charlie Manuel of the Philadelphia Phillies.
The 2010 MLB All-Star Game will be held at Angels Stadium in Anaheim on Tuesday, July 13th. The American League All-Star Team will have nine starters elected via the fan balloting program, while the National League All-Star Team will have eight fan-elected starters. The pitchers and reserves for both squads – totaling 25 for the N.L. and 24 for the A.L. – will be determined through a combination of “Player Ballot” choices and selections made by All-Star managers Girardi and Manuel, in conjunction with Major League Baseball.
Following the show, Sunday MLB on TBS will continue at 1 p.m. (ET) with an American League East match-up featuring Derek Jeter and the New York Yankees hosting Vernon Wells and the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium. Brian Anderson (play-by-play) and Buck Martinez (analyst) will call the action.
“Sunday MLB on TBS” includes match-ups on TBS every Sunday afternoon throughout the regular season. Beginning in October TBS will once again provide exclusive coverage of the Division Series and the American League Championship Series (ALCS).
TBS has broadcast MLB coverage for more than 30 years serving as the exclusive home of the MLB Division Series (DS) and one League Championship Series (LCS) since 2007 and home of Atlanta Braves coverage from 1977 to 2007.
