In honor of the upcoming Super Bowl, I use Roman numerals to signify that we have reached 20 podcasts. That’s rather impressive.
In this week’s podcast, Keith Thibault of Sports Media Journal and I talk about the monster ratings for NFL Championship Sunday. We also talk about the controversy over CBS’ acceptance of an advocacy ad from Focus on the Family for the Super Bowl. We also talk about the East Coast-heavy Sunday Night Baseball schedule for the first half of the MLB season.
Then we bring in our guest, Dr. Steve Dittmore, Assistant Professor of recreation and sports management at the University of Arkansas. Steve has had an extensive background in sports public relations and in the Olympics.
During our interview with Steve, we talked about his experience in sports public relations and how he became a professor at Arkansas.
Then we discussed how the US Olympic Committee lost the bid for Chicago to host the 2016 Summer Games. We looked at how social media has a role in sports. And we also explored the issue of Comcast and Cox preventing their competitors from carrying their regional sports networks.
A very good podcast and fascinating listening if I do say so myself. You can go to iTunes to download or you can get it
. If you go to iTunes, please leave feedback so Apple will feature the podcast on its new iPad.
