ROSENTHAL: LAROCHE TO RED SOX ADDS TO TEAM’S VERSATILITY – Earlier today, the Boston Red Sox traded two midlevel prospects to
for Pirates first baseman Adam LaRoche. FOXSports.com senior writer & MLB on FOX insider, Ken Rosenthal thinks the deal adds to the versatility of the Red Sox. “LaRoche gives the Sox an additional hitter they need at a minimal price in prospects. He’s a left-handed hitter who can start at 1B, against right-handed pitching. All-Star first baseman Kevin Youkilis can move to third base and the Sox can rest Mike Pittsburgh . They need to rest Lowell because his hip remains a concern. Youkilis Lowell ‘versatility gives them multiple options.”
