Perfect Ending for Meadowlands

The season finale of Meadowlands was tonight. It was the perfect ending to a season of mystery. We saw Danny Brogan preparing to get his family out of Cape Wrath. As Samantha was watching, she was suspicious of his plans. Danny used the opening of his new bar as a rouse to get his family out.

His son and daughter, Mark and Zoe were not supportive at first, but they soon began to realize that Meadowlands was not for them. Mark saw that he was being manipulated by Jezebel. Zoe saw that her crush on golf pro Tom Tyrell was unhealthy.

As the party was underway, Constable Wintersgill was watching, keeping a keen eye on Danny.

But as a drunk Dr. York came into the bar, he became more bitter seeing his crush, Evelyn get closer to Danny. Danny made a fake announcement how much he loved Meadowlands, but Dr. York knowing the family secret forced Evelyn to spill how Danny was not the father of her children.

Danny got pissed, stole a car, left the children and wife behind and started driving. Wintersgill decided to allow Danny to leave, smashing the electronic fence keeping all Cape Wrath residents in. And we saw Wintersgill threatening Samantha.

But as Danny finally got a flat tire and came screeching to a halt, he realized that he literally was in the middle of nowhere. There were mountains and a large canyon and as we pulled back, we finally discovered that Meadowlands was not in England. We don’t know exactly where it is, but it’s really the only civilization around. Perfect ending. If this is truly the end of Meadowlands, it’s where it should end.

But it has left me wanting more and I do hope Channel 4 in the UK and Showtime in the US will give us another season. I would like to see how Danny integrates himself back into the town and his family. And what exactly is Wintersgill up to? It’s all one giant mystery.

I dont' think Danny can or will integrate himself into the town. However, he might soften and return to Evelyn and the kids. I'm sure the resentment would still be there.The tension between Samantha and Wintersgill is what has me interested. What sort of 'respect' was the good inspector there to teach.. with the sledge hammer in hand?I did enjoy the 1st season though. If it has to end now, this is the best time

I agree. If this is the end, leave it as is as we find out that Meadowlands is in the middle of nowhere. But leaving it open does give us some interesting possibilities.

No part fo the UK looks like the wilderness surrounding Meadowlands in the last scene. If this place is a witness protection refuge run by the British goverment – where might it be???

The ending of series 1 (or the whole story?) certainly strengthens links with The Prisoner – in that classic, the location is never known (it could be an island for example) but no-one can really ever leave; it's run by the British Government (or so it's assumed); everyone is creepily pleasant on the surface; the location includes many brightly-coloured properties.

I would be extremely upset if this is the end of it! I absolutely am entranced with Meadowlands! It is brilliant and full of twisted characters. They kind of left the whole experiment thing open. Will they try again? Also what is that whole experiment about? My husband and I look forward to watching this show every Sunday, while waiting for the Tudors new season, and we can’t wait to find out what will happen to these people next!

Meadowlands (called Cape Wrath in the UK) ended here a couple of days ago. I think the ending was very disppointing. Of course it was in the middle of nowhere, we all knew it had to be otherwise people would have found it?! It didn't answer why those running Meadowlands were so determined to keep people inside, surely it didn't matter if they got out as they couldn't tell anyone about the town anyway.Great premise and some fantastic characters, a second series would probably answer a few questions.

there is a cape wrath in northern scotland its the northernmost most geographically challenged part of britain hard to get to and it does resemble the craginess of meadowlands last episodes i think look up cape wrath on the net u will see for urself love love love this show watch it over and over in cablevision showtime on demand must have season two
